Lady Trojans drop a close one to Bedford

 

The Johnstown Lady Trojans traveled to Bedford last Friday night and played a senior laden Lady Bison team.  The Lady Trojans were down 14 at half but cut it to 3 late in the fourth quarter.  Johnstown could not pull ahead and Bedford won 55-46. Shayla Smith had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Janay Meyers had 10 pts and 14 rebounds and Ty Ellis hit four 3’s for 12 points.  At the half was point of the season the Lady Trojans are 2-9.

Trojan Grapplers lose a tough match to Cambria Heights

The wrestlers lost a close match last night to Cambria Heights. They were led by a huge pin by Devine Edwards in his debut with the Trojans. Trey Leeth, Malcolm Harris, Jerimiah Mitchell and Kawan Butcher also picked up individual wins last night. The team will compete this weekend at the Richland Duals and will finally be full strength with everyone back into the lineup!

Trojans Win Storied Rivalry Game Against Altoona

 

Johnstown High used an effective man-to-man defense to defeat host Altoona in a non-conference game at the Altoona Field House. “It was a great defensive game. We held them to two points in the third quarter,” It was a hard-fought defensive game.


“We started in a zone and switched to a man in the second quarter. We held them to 15 points after that.” Johnstown’s Dwight Andrews had 12 points, and Alkwan Williams added 11 points for the Trojans, who are 11-1 overall. Altoona, now 5-8, did not have a player reach double-digit scoring.

“This is big. It was a playoff type of a game where you have a physical type of defense,” Cobaugh said. “To go 11 of 13 from the line and to play that type of defense against a team like Altoona was impressive.” Johnstown has a key LHAC game against visiting Richland tonight and travels to Somerset on Friday.

Trojans dominate Bedford

The Trojans were led by Dwight Andrews who pumped in 29 points, including 6 slam dunks, on their way to an easy home victory over Section 1 foe Bedford.  Andrews was helped out in the scoring column by Phillip Madison who added 21 points and Alkwan Williams who scored 18 points.  Mark Watson dished out an amazing 14 assists on the night for the Trojans who also got 10 rebounds from Isaiah “Snoop” Haselrig.  The Trojans moved to 10 – 1 on the year with the victory.
