Trojans Capture Boswell Jaycees Championship

The Johnstown Trojans won the championship of the, doubleheader style, Boswell Area Jaycees Baseball tournament with victories of North Star in the first round and Forest Hills in the Championship.  In the first game, Curtis McClain’s three-run homer in the fifth inning broke a 1-all tie and put the Trojans ahead to stay in an opening-round win over host North Star. Ben Fleck (Tournament’s Outstanding Pitcher) picked up the victory in game one as he pitched 6 solid innings on the mound and only giving up 1 earned run.
In the championship round, the Trojans faced fellow LHAC foe Forest Hills and knocked off the Rangers in unmistakable fashion 9 - 1. The Trojans scored six runs in the fourth inning to break open a championship-game win over Forest Hills. Nolan Eidem, John King and Alex Merriman each had two hits for Johnstown. Alex Merriman was acknowledged for his recent hard work as he walked away with game 2 team MVP honors.

Trojans’ Season Comes to an End

The Johnstown Trojans' magical season comes to and end short of their final goal of a state championship at the hands of South Fayette, the defending PIAA Class AA state champions, 67 - 47. The young Trojans had quite a run in spite of the several huge hurdles they faced throughout the year ending their season with a 23 - 2 record that included their 2nd straight UPJ Mountain Cat Tournament Championship, 2nd straight LHAC Championship, and 3rd straight District VI AAA Championship.
