Young Trojans Finish Their Season Rolling with a Win in Ebensburg
The 8th Grade finished their season on a 3 game winning streak by defeating Central Cambria 14-8. The offense was led by Ameer Connor’s two TD runs, while the defense led by Vantroy Godbolt, Rico Chancellor, and Zak Odum held the Red Devils scoreless until the final minute. The team finished with a record of 5-2 and grew as a team over the course of the year; they performed like Trojans, and showed again that the future is bright at JHS!!
The team would like to thank Coach McMonagle and Coach Campagna for all their hard work and effort in preparing these young men for their bright future here at Greater Johnstown and showing them how to be Trojans. Everyone is looking forward to seeing these young men play in the future. Great job gentlemen!
TROJANS GET ANOTHER WIN OVER BISHOP McCORT
The 8th Grade football team defeated Bishop McCort last night (10/19) 30-20. The offense was led by Ameer Connor's 2 TDs and two 2 point conversions. Jamal Sprangle and Marquis Calloway also scored TDs as the Trojans overcame a 6 point halftime deficit. The defense led by Zak Odum, Kane Stiffy and Rico Chancellor held McCort scoreless after halftime, Great job guys...
TROJANS GO ON THE ROAD TO GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK
Little Trojans get back on track with a win @ Bedford (10/12) 18-6. The Trojans overcame some injuries to some key people and other adversity to get the win. Ameer Connor had 2 TD runs and Jamal Sprangle hooked up with Justin Rowe on a long catch and run for the other score. Rakwon Hinton led the defense with 3 picks to hold Bedford to 6 points.
TROJANS 8TH GRADE FOOTBALL CAN’T HOLD
The Trojans 8th Graders’ unbeaten streak ended last night in a tough last minute loss to the Richland Rams. The young Trojans showed great Trojan pride in battling back from 14 points down in the 4th quarter to take a 16-14 lead with little more than a minute to play. Ameer Connor and Jamaal Sprangle scored the Trojan TD’s and Connor Kobal caught the go ahead 2 pt conversion passes to give the Trojans the lead 16 - 14 with just 1:53 showing on the clock. The defense could not hold the advantage however, as the Rams drove down the field and scored with only seconds to play to set the final…
Young Trojans Remain Unbeaten
The 8th grade football team continued their unbeaten streak yesterday by defeating Westmont 22-8 @ Price Field. The Trojan defense led the way with Ameer Connor, Vantroy Godbolt and Connor Kobal all making big plays including Kobal’s fumble return for a TD to set the final. Rakwon Hinton caught another TD pass and Marquis Callaway ran for one as the offense did its part to keep the streak alive.
