Lady Trojans Slide Continues
Johnstown started out slow vs. PC and trailed 19-8 to end the first. They cut it to six late in the second but the Lady Panthers went on a 5-0 run to make it an eleven point halftime lead 35-24. Johnstown was outscored 49-21 in the second half. Janay Meyers busted out for 24 points and 16 rebounds; Tashayla Smith netted 16 points, pulled down 13 caroms and had 5 blocks.
The Highlanders of Cambria Heights jumped out to a 21-3 first quarter lead and never looked back beating the Lady Trojan’s 78-48. The Lady Trojans outscored Cambria Heights in the second half 29-28. Brandi Young had 15 points, Tashayla Smith netted 14 and 15 rebounds while Janay Myers scored 10.
Lady Trojans lose to LHAC rival Richland
The Lady Trojans traveled to Richland on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and suffered a 62 to 21 loss at the hands of the Lady Rams. Janay Meyers had 9 points and four rebounds, while Tashayla Smith had 6 rebounds and four blocks for the Trojans.
Lady Trojans drop a close one to Bedford
The Johnstown Lady Trojans traveled to Bedford last Friday night and played a senior laden Lady Bison team. The Lady Trojans were down 14 at half but cut it to 3 late in the fourth quarter. Johnstown could not pull ahead and Bedford won 55-46. Shayla Smith had 15 points and 15 rebounds, Janay Meyers had 10 pts and 14 rebounds and Ty Ellis hit four 3’s for 12 points. At the half was point of the season the Lady Trojans are 2-9.
Numbers, Injuries Taking Toll on Lady Trojans
The Lady Trojans, suffering from injuries, dropped 2 games in five days as they traveled up Osborne St to Bishop McCort and suffered a big setback, losing by the score of 66 to 22. Janay Meyers racked up 11 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. On January 9th they suffered a lopsided home loss 62 - 22 to Westmont Hilltop. Janay Meyers had 8 points and 6 rebounds. Tashayla Smith had 6 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Lady Trojans Start Off 2012 on Wrong Foot
The Lady Trojans began the New Year with a home loss to Central Cambria 62 to 24. Johnstown trailed 12-5 to end the first period ; but the Lady Devil pressured Johnstown and capitalized on steals and turnovers to take a 32-10 halftime lead. Janay Myers scored 17 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in the effort. Johnstown shot well from the free throw line going 12 of 18 for 67%.
