Trojan Girls Get 1st Win of the Season
The Trojan girls soccer team got their first win of the year as they knocked off the United Lions 1 - 0. The Trojans lone goal came on a direct kick by Sierra Steele late in the second half of the tight game. Teasha Thomas had another outstanding effort in goal to keep the Lions out of the net and off the scoreboard by making a few acrobatic saves to help preserve the shutout.
The Trojans also dropped 2 LHAC matches to Forest Hills and Bishop McCort to stay winless in conference play.
Trojan Girls Soccer battle to 1 - 1 tie
After a long grueling battle with the Panthers that lasted over 2 hours, the Lady Trojans tied Penn Cambria 1-1 in a double overtime game. Nikki McAdams scored Johnstown’s lone goal of the game as Teasha Thomas had a tremendous night in goal knocking away shot after shot to help keep the Trojans in the game through double OT.
The Girls Soccer Team is off to a competitive start to the 2011 season.
Coach Arcurio had hoped for a better start to the 2011 girls soccer season after falling to 0 - 2 after Bishop Carroll knocked off the Trojans in Ebensburg. Coach Arcurio has seen a lot of good things from her young and inexperienced team so far the lets her know there is hope in the very near future. On Thursday, the Trojans fell to the Bishop Carroll Huskies despite Nikki McAdams and Sierra Steele’s scoring game tying goals in the second half. Even with the great the defense and goalie Teasha Thomas’s best efforts Bishop Carrol was able to score the go ahead goal with 15 minutes left in the game to move the Trojans to 0 - 2 on the year.
In their 1st game of the year, the Girls’ Soccer team fell to Bishop Guilfoyle in their home opener. Teasha Thomas had a terrific night in goal for the Trojans but they could not get the offense going to make her effort all that more special by including the win.
Lady Trojan Soccer wins 2 in a row!
Behind a great team defensive performance, spearheaded by Jenna Lindrose and two big goals by Sierra Steele, the Lady Trojans beat the Central Cambria Lady Red Devils by a score of 2-1 last night (10/19/10) for their second victory in a row and third victory of the season! Coach Arcurio added “I’m so proud of these girls. They have fought so hard through all the injuries and transition. They are starting to see their perseverance pay off for them in the form of a couple of wins.
Lady Trojan Soccer picks up second win of the season
The Lady Trojans beat United in Armaugh by a score of 6-3. Alyssa Lux had a hat trick, scoring her three goals all in the first half and Sierra Steele scored the other first half goal. Bre Rock had both Johnstown’s goals in the second half.
