Trojans Pound Hilltoppers
Playing on a Saturday afternoon is rare for the Trojans and it showed as the Trojans overcame their own sloppy play to blast Westmont 32 - 3. DaQuan Minter scored on a 86 yard kickoff return and followed that up with 50 yard punt return for the Trojans final touchdown. The Trojans overcame the Saturday afternoon blues, penalties, and 6 turnovers ( 4 ints. & 2 fumbles) to win their Laurel Highland section II opener. Mark Watson and Dwight Andrews had monster days catching the pigskin as Watson caught 6 balls for 128 yards and Andrews caught 5 balls for 90 yards as both have continued to show why they rank as two of the top receivers in the area if not the state. Tim Odum scampered 92 yards for the Trojans other TD.
Alkwan Williams continues his domination of opponents from the linebacker spot as he again led the team in tackles registering 14 tackles on the afternoon. Alkwan was helped out on defense by Dalvin Williams (11 tackles & 1 FR), Javon Vuckovich (11 Tackles), Alex Merriman (8 tackles), Luke Kmett (7 tackles), and Malcolm Harris (7 tackles, 1 int, & 1FF). Mark Watson had the other Trojan interception. The Trojan D held Westmont to 154 total yards on 58 plays for a 2.7 yard average per play.
