TROJANS RUN TO 4TH STRAIGHT IN WIN OVER RICHLAND
Tim Odum ran for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns, all in just 12 carries leading the Trojans to their 4th victory of the season as they knocked off the previously undefeated Richland Rams 35 - 27. Gervon Simon also carried the ball 12 times amassing 220 yards and a touchdown from the quarterback position to add a 1 - 2 punch on the ground for the Trojans. As a team the Trojans ran for a whooping 444 yards on the ground as Richland did its best to keep the vaunted Trojan passing attack in check. The Trojans threw for just 25 yards on 4 completions but where the air attack struggled, the ground attack flourished. The normally sure handed and dangerous receiving threats of Dwight Andrews, Mark Watson, DaQuan Minter , and Alkwan Williams displayed their skills as complete players as they threw many downfield blocks that helped spring Odum and Simon for their huge chunks of yardage.
The defense held a potent Richland offense in check for most of the night despite Richland continuously having to travel only half the field to try and score. The Men of Troy defense forced 2 huge turnovers to help stop scoring drives. The Trojan defense was on the field for 61 plays and held Richland to 5 yards per play on the night. Alkwan Williams led the Trojans again in tackles with 15. Fellow linebacker Malcolm Harris added 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Alkwan Williams’ partner at inside linebacker added 11 tackles on the night. The Trojans play host to the Somerset Golden Eagles this Friday, September, 30th at 7:00 PM as Greater Johnstown School District will be announcing the 2011 Homecoming King and Queen during the homecoming ceremonies at halftime.
