Patrick Barron
Head Girls' Track Coach
Patrick Barron is in his second year as the Johnstown Girls Track Coach. In his first year, Barron led 5 individual Trojans to Laurel Highlands Championships. He guided his Lady Trojans to 7th place out of 13 teams in the Laurel Highlands Championship meet. The Laurel Highlands Championship meet was held at Johnstown High School for the first time, and will be host to the boys and girls championships again this year. Barron had two athletes who placed 2nd in the District 6-AAA Championships. The 2008 season produced a good young crop of athletes which in whom the future looks bright. Pat was able to help one female athlete from last year's senior track class go on to further her education and academic career.
Barron graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School in 2002. While he was there, he lettered in three years of football, wrestling, and four years of track. Pat is a school record holder as well as a Laurel Highlands Conference record holder in the Pole Vault. While at Westmont, he placed 8th and 6th in the state in the pole vault. He went on to attend James Madison University, where he was captain of the men’s track team. Barron was a two-time, division one conference champion, and was voted MVP as a freshman. He also qualified for two NCAA East Regional Finals. At James Madison, Pat received his degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science, and stayed at JMU to graduate with his Master of Arts in Teaching.
Mr. Barron is in his 2nd year of teaching at Greater Johnstown High School. Pat is also an assistant coach/quarterback coach for the Johnstown High School football team.
