Head 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach

Eddie Mikesic

Eddie Mikesic has been coaching the 7th grade boys basketball team since the program’s inception during the 2005-2006 season. Mikesic feels that his teams’ success over the past three seasons is partially a result of his focusing on teaching the fundamentals of the game, such as proper techniques, rules, offensive plays, defensive schemes, and--most importantly--how to be team players. His teams have been very successful and have placed first (2006) and third (2007, 2008) in the Westmont Jr. High Christmas Shoot Out. Mikesic plays a vital role in helping his players, who are at an impressionable age, to become successful later in their basketball careers.

In 1987, Mikesic graduated from Greater Johnstown High School, where he played point guard under Coach Paul Litwalk. He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earning a bachelor’s of arts degree in finance/accounting. He then graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in Business Workforce Development. He also has thirty additional credits beyond his master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Mr. Mikesic has been employed as a business teacher by the Greater Johnstown School District for the last six years. He resides in West Taylor Township with his wife Traci and dog Jessie.
