Coaches

Coach Bassett is in his first year as the Trojans Head Coach, but brings many years of experience and knowledge with him. He has been an assistant wrestling coach for 10 plus years, under two of the region's best coaches (Coach Bowser & Coach Strittmatter).

As an assistant coach at Forest Hills under Coach Bowser, the Rangers won four district 6 titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, two Southwest Regional Titles, and five PIAA State Dual Appearances. (2- top 4 finishes). He coached many district champions, regional champions and state place winners. In 2005, due to returning back to college to become an educator, Coach Bassett resigned from Forest Hills and took an assistant coaching job under Coach John Strittmatter at Central Cambria. At CC, they were able to earn a 16-0 regular season record and a number one seed in the district duals. In the two years at CC, he coached two upper-weights to district titles, regional and state placing. Coach Strittmatter taught him the Iowa/UPJ style of wrestling and coaching. Then in 2007, he got hired at Richland School District, where he became the assistant wrestling coach there as well. Helping the Rams revive their wrestling program and build it back up. During his two years at Richland, he coached John Rizzo to his first state title, was the Tournament Director of the Richland Duals (One of the Nation's Biggest Dual Tournaments) taking the tournament from 12 teams to 28 teams, and was the Head Coach of the Rampage, the Floodcity summer wrestling team which won the championship in 2007-08.

Coach Bassett graduated from Forest Hills in 1997, where he was a standout in wrestling, power lifting, and football. 1997 PFN All-State Honorable Mention and Tribune Democrat All Area team in Football. 1000 pound club in power lifting, with his bench, squat and deadlift totaled over 1000 pounds. In 2001, he obtained a Computer Science/Information Technology degree and in 2004 he returned back to college at Mount Aloysius and received his Elementary Education bachelors degree. He is also certified in Early Childhood, Business Education, Middle School Mathematics, and Drivers Education. He is currently pursuing a Master Degree at Saint Francis University.

Coach Bassett is married to his wife Karissa and has two sons Bowen & Keegan.

His Staff consists of Assistant Coaches: Jack Bassett, Cody Gallaher, John Miller, Dan Mauorana and Jared Baxter. Junior High Coaches are Will Harris and Andre Britt.
