Food Services

The Office of Food Services is part of the Department of Business. This office coordinates the menus and preparation of food for all buildings in the school district. Nutrition, Inc. is a food service management company that has been hired by Greater Johnstown School District to provide nutritious school meals and promote a healthy school environment.

Nutrition, Inc. is concerned about the health and well-being of the customers we serve. We understand that proper nutrition is an important element of good health and readiness to learn. Therefore, Nutrition, Inc.'s Corporate Wellness Committee has established nutritional goals that are to be achieved in all of the school districts we serve. In addition, Nutrition, Inc. is committed to offering nutrition education lessons to students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, participating in school wellness councils, and involving students and parents in nutrition advisory committee meetings.

  • Offering fresh fruits & vegetables daily
  • Having low-fat salad dressings available
  • Offering a low-fat menu selection daily
  • Eliminating whole milk and promoting 1% & skim milk
  • Offering healthy snacks in ala carte & vending areas
  • Featuring a whole grain item each week
  • Offering of low sugar and whole grain cereals at breakfast
  • Presenting nutrition education materials on the serving lines
  • Limiting the availability of high fat food items
  • Using low-fat mayonnaise in recipes
