Additional Requirements for Graduation

In order to be eligible for graduation from Greater Johnstown High School, a student must demonstrate proficiency in Math and Reading by scoring a ‘Proficient’ or ‘Advanced’ score on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) or an equivalent assessment approved by the Board of Directors.

Students who do not score ‘Proficient’ or ‘Advanced’ on the Math and Reading PSSA Assessment will not be eligible for Cooperative Education or Dual Enrollment Classes.

Alternate Eligibility- To be eligible for Co-Op or Dual Enrollment, in their senior year, students must score proficient on a district approved PSSA equivalent assessment, have a minimum score of 400 in each Math and Verbal sections of the SAT, or complete the requirements of the school district after school tutoring program. 

The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires that all high school graduates have completed a culminating project during their senior year of high school. 

During their senior year, students must pass all courses taken with a final percentage of not less than 60%. Students scoring less than 60% on any course during their senior year will not be eligible for participation in the commencement ceremony.
