Footloose

March 25th, 26th, 27th (7:00pm) and 28th (3:00pm)

Director: Michael D’Angelo
Music Director: Christopher McAllister
Choreographer: Jan Yursky
Tech Director: James Lucero

Tickets are $5.00 for Students and $7.00 for Adults. Seating is General Admission. Tickets can be purchased at the door starting at 6:15 each night.

Based on the 1984 hit movie of the same name, FOOTLOOSE is a high-energy musical detailing the story of a big-city kid, Ren McCormack, who moves to a small town and shakes up the status quo. When Ren is forced to move with his mother to the puritanical, small town of Bomont after his father abandons the family, he is shocked to find that dancing and rock 'n' roll are forbidden. Through tenacity, clever use of the bible and a bit of heart-to-heart chat, Ren manages to convince Reverend Moore to let the town’s high schoolers dance again. The music includes many of the original hits of the ‘80s that made the film so popular, including the title song “Footloose”, “Let’s Hear It For the Boy”, “Holding on for a Hero”, “Almost Paradise” and “I’m Free” among others.

"As the drama director for the JHS production of Footloose, I’m truly excited to be working with so many talented young cast members. I appreciate all of them and what they do. I believe Footloose has many fun scenes, but also some tender moments that will reveal the true message of the show. Helping this are many different styles of music.” - Michael D’Angelo, Drama Director

“It is exciting to return to Johnstown for this production. We had a lot of new students come out this year to join the production with our veteran members and we as a design staff could not be happier. Teaching the music each week is such a fun adventure, I can hardly wait until the performances. The kids have been working extremely hard and are having fun, and it shows each time they are on stage.” - Christopher McAllister, Music Director
