Wal-Mart Foundation Grant

On Thursday April 24th, five Johnstown High School students visited the Wal-Mart Super Center and received a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation for $1000. Johnstown High School and West Side Elementary are the two schools within the district to benefit from this grant. The money was split equally between the two schools. The grant was used to buy incentives for all students who had perfect attendance during the PSSAs and to continue to encourage academic success throughout their time in the school district. The five students chosen to help with the grant spent a morning at Wal-Mart selecting incentives such as iPods, Play Station Portables, digital cameras, Guitar Hero, and much more.

In closing, we would like to thank Wal-Mart for their community involvement and dedication to helping students in the Greater Johnstown School District reach higher levels of student achievement. We are truly grateful for your care and concern for our students.
