Trainers - District Wide
Recently, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) presented training to nine of the GJSD staff members on suicide awareness and prevention. These staff member will now provide ongoing professional development in youth suicide awareness and prevention for professional educators in buildings serving students in grades 6-12. This is in accordance with Act 71.
The AFSP is the leading national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. "More than Sad" is the district program we utilize to train staff.
