UPDATE: COVID-19 Breakfast/Lunch/Backpack Project Weekend Meals Information

This information document is directly related to the recent closure of the Greater Johnstown School District as a result of the COVID-19 virus. Please know that the Greater Johnstown School District is committed to providing the best possible service to our students in this very difficult time. Updates are being provided to us on an hourly basis and we will continue to provide our families these updates as we receive them. We will provide breakfast and lunch to all children under the age of eighteen (18) beginning March 17, 2020. We will also provide the Backpack Weekend Meals Project to students who had previously signed up for the program. Please see the attached information for locations and times.

Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships have been released by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.

For information, please go to cfalleghenies.org, find scholarships, and search Greater Johnstown. Scholarships will come up for our students. You can apply for any scholarship that you qualify for.

School Closure

The Governor has determined that due to the concern of COVID-19, we are closing our schools and postponing all activities beginning Friday, March 13 through , Sunday, March 29, 2020. We want to ensure that our families have plenty of time to prepare for this untimely event. We will remain in constant contact with the Department of Education, Department of Health, the Center for Disease Control, and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. We will provide updates via our district website and social media sites. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this difficult time.The GJSD has applied for a waiver in order to provide lunches at various locations throughout the city. As soon as we receive approval we will inform you as to the time and locations. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
